Advanced Case Studies in External Auditing & Corporate Governance was written to assist students to:
- meet the competency requirements described in the Competency Framework: Detailed Guidance for Academic Programmes issued by the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA); and
- develop thought processes and skills to answer the Auditing questions in professional examinations, especially SAICA's Initial Test of Competence (ITC) examination.
This text has been commended for its "generic guidance" at the start of each chapter which serves as a set of pointers to students when answering the questions of the chapter. The majority of the questions in the text are of a standard equal to the requirements of the ITC examination; the logic being that if one can successfully complete the case studies, one should be able to pass the Auditing questions in the professional examination.
Advanced Case Studies in External Auditing & Corporate Governance aims to develop students' cognitive skills in the field of Auditing. To achieve this, special effort has been made to ensure that questions are not excessively predictable, and that the suggested solutions provided to universities that prescribe the text are complete and accurate. The text and suggested solutions have been updated to accommodate the latest legislation and professional standards issued before mid December 2021
